The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

Cincinnati, Ohio

Leading museum in the U.S. on the Underground Railroad.

Prior to the Civil War, Cincinnati was the “Grand Central Station” of the Underground Railroad.  It is estimated that some 30,000 people escaped slavery passing through here.  The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center celebrates the heroes who created the secret network through which the enslaved could escape to freedom.
